Who We Are
Why we’re called The Well
Our name comes from the story of Jesus meeting a woman at a well in John 4. She came looking for temporary water, but Jesus offered her living water — grace that satisfies the deepest thirst of the soul. That is our hope for everyone who walks through our doors.
Our mission is to make Christ known, become disciples of Jesus, help people find genuine community, and live on mission.
Senior Pastor
James Moore
My name is James Moore and I am the senior pastor at The Well. My journey in ministry began 34 years ago with a call from the Lord on my life to serve as a pastor. After that call, I completed my bachelor’s degree at Williams Baptist University as well as finished my master’s degree at Mid-America Seminary. In the time since the original call, I have served in many positions and across multiple states; however, being on staff at this church has been my favorite part of my pastoral journey.
Nearly a decade ago, Amy and I both felt the Lord leading us to plant a church. It was at that time that we began to prayerfully cast a vision for The Well. It was our desire for the church to be more than just a house of worship on Sunday mornings; we wanted it to be a place where people could find God-centered community to both do life with and grow spiritually alongside of. It is my prayer that everyone who walks through the doors of this church can find this community, and ultimately, fall passionately in love with the Lord. One of my greatest joys has always been to see the faces of men and women, boys and girls, as the Word of God finally clicks in their minds and registers in their hearts.
My prayer for The Well is that as we encourage and equip the saints, we will see the gospel spread rapidly across our community through biblical discipleship. I would love to have you join us on this journey. See you Sunday!
Doctrine
What We Believe
The core beliefs of The Well Texoma, based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
The Bible
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.
God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world.
Man
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort alone.
Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment of their sin.
The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.
Christian Life
We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
Resurrection
Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
